This research project focused on optimizing the visual communication system and orientation within the Casa del Adulto Mayor Tovar in Miraflores. The Munari methodology and design tools such as Geronto Design were utilized to address the specific needs of this demographic group. Through an experimental and mixed approach, an effective orientation system was developed that considers both the needs of older adults and the characteristics of the environment within the building. Various design tools, such as universal and inclusive design, placemaking, and wayfinding, were employed to create a comprehensive solution to the identified problem. The results not only demonstrate an efficient response to the challenge of orientation and belonging in this center but also suggest that this approach could be replicated in other locations of the Centro Integral del Adulto Mayor (CIAM) in Miraflores and in other municipalities. Ultimately, this project represents a significant advancement towards creating more inclusive and accessible environments for older adults, laying the groundwork for future research and developments in the field of graphic design focused on this population segment
