The research work shows the effects of performance degradation in a turbogenerator due to the operating and environmental conditions that surround it. The mechanisms of performance degradation are described, classifying the losses according to their type of damage. The problem of non-recoverable losses and the permanent negative effect on performance are identified, which justifies corrective maintenance actions or implementation of updates on components and the turbogenerator to optimize performance. In a different approach, it shows the importance of permanent performance monitoring and mentions the difficulties that arise for its calculation. Through the energy analysis, a comparison is made between two scenarios: current conditions of the turbogenerator (without updates) and simulated conditions (with implemented updates), to then compare the results and check the effective power optimization through the calculation of the parameters that characterize its performance from energy analysis.
