The power of a wind turbine is affected by the constant variations in wind; therefore, it is necessary to design and implement a control system that can enhance their performance. The objective of this thesis is to improve the power control performance of a wind turbine. To achieve this, a fuzzy controller is developed, incorporating an evolutionary algorithm to control the pitch angle of the wind rotor blades. To obtain optimization results, understanding the system's dynamics is crucial. Consequently, it is mathematically modeled to comprehend the behavior of the wind turbine. In some cases, well-known equations like those of the generator are employed, while in others, approximations are used, such as the power coefficient for the wind rotor. This is done with the aim of simulating the system using MATLAB simulation software. Different parameters and interconnection modes of the systems are configured. Finally, a comparison is made between the designed control algorithms to select the one that provides the best performance in power control for the wind turbine.
