This report analyzes and identifies a technological gap in the campus networks of the National University of Engineering, both on the UNI campus and on the INICTEL campus, which operate as independent networks. As a solution to this gap, a design is proposed to modernize and simplify the core infrastructure of the network, establishing a unified and integrated intercampus network platform, with redundancy and load balanced, resilient and highly available, resulting in better network performance. This design is based on fiber optic connectivity, with virtualized technology equipment, contemplates the characteristic of scalability, being prepared for future innovations, thereby protecting the new investment (CAPEX). In addition, the benefit of reducing recurring costs (OPEX) of the university's current telecommunications services is considered. To achieve the design, the following methodologies are used: Cisco PPDDIO, scaled costs, and the Fiber Optic Network Design reference guide from The Fiber Optic Association (FOA).
