This research work consists of the application of the methodology called Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) to one of the physical assets of the heavy machinery available to the civil construction company ROFER SAC. The application of the methodology begins by knowing the level of criticality of each of the assets according to the historical information of the maintenance area during the period July 2020 to July 2021 and from the results the asset that presents a high criticality was chosen. After carrying out the criticality evaluation matrix, the asset that presented a critical value turned out to be the L120G Front Loader, finding a value according to the criticality matrix higher than 60, which places it among the equipment with high criticality. The RCM was developed following the seven steps recommended by the method. The actions carried out were the identification of functional failures and their failure modes, description of the failure effects and the consequences of the failures to make the criticality table, in addition a quantitative criticality risk matrix was developed that included the types of failures and the maintenance tasks required in a maintenance plan. After carrying out the actions of the maintenance plan for a period of 12 months, it was found that the availability of the front loader increased from 91.8% to 94.4%, which indicates that the application of the RCM methodology had a positive impact and generated benefits in a construction company that has physical assets that need to be maintained in good condition to sustain the requirements of the operation.
