The main objective of this work is to propose improvements for the design of the cashier's work desk in the retail sector, through evaluations of working conditions, focused on the ergonomic risk to which the staff is exposed and what the levels are, high, medium or low; In addition, to introduce the anthropometric approach, taking precisely the anthropometric measurements so that the proposal is in accordance with the needs of the working population in the city of Lima. For this study, the RULA risk assessment methodology is applied for postural load and OCRA for repetitive movements, in addition to anthropometric measurements; applied in a population of 35 stores, where each one has a cashier. From the evaluations it can be deduced that preventive measures have not been contemplated to mitigate ergonomic risks, due to the fact that medium and high-risk levels are obtained in the postural load evaluation; however, in the evaluation of repetitive movements a low level of risk is obtained. Therefore, it is concluded that more than half of the positions evaluated require a change in the conditions of the furniture and a short-term action is recommended for the redesign of the work table.
