Nowadays, infiltration and stability analyze are carried out mainly considering the mechanics of saturated soils, although it is known that for some fine soils, the geotechnical model using the mechanics of unsaturated soils fits the real behaviour of the flow water, mainly to represent the piezometric line that passes through dams with clayey materials or fine particles. The present work consists of the geotechnical analysis of a dam with a clay core that includes the characterization of the materials used in the geotechnical model of the main and lateral dams according to their hydraulic and mechanical properties; Likewise, for the hydraulic properties of the core, the characteristic curve was defined according to laboratory data and adjustment methods that fits the transient behavior of the piezometric line according to the piezometer data from its installation to the present. The infiltration analysis was carried out to define the piezometric line in 03 scenarios: after the construction of the dams, the dam with the full reservoir and the rapid drawdown; while the physical stability analysis of the slope was carried out using the limit equilibrium method for the static and pseudostatic condition and the failure surfaces were determined according to Morgenstern-Price for each scenario, comparing the results of the block failures that pass through the core. applying the mechanics of saturated and partially saturated soil.
