Competitiveness in the power generation sector with the exponential entry of renewable energies since the beginning of the 21st century has led that thermal power plant companies, whose operation and maintenance costs are higher than those that use non-conventional natural resources, start to explore the utilization of digital tools to reduce these costs. One of the components of maintenance costs is related to the time invested for the execution of repetitive manual activities. The objective of this research with a quantitative approach was to evaluate the utilization of robotic process automation to reduce maintenance costs of a group of thermoelectric power plants, allowing the replication of manual tasks through the utilization of robots software without the intervention of a human. With the development of a robot using the UiPath software and the process automation with Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Power Automate software, the results obtained in terms of time showed a reduction in the range of 70% and 78% compared to the performance of a human, and in terms of costs for a 10-year evaluation period, showed savings discounted to today’s value of up S/ 63,031.26, with potential to be higher.
