This work was carried out in a mine, where the post-blasting ore is transported directly to the leaching PAD (Mine to PAD), i.e. no comminution process is involved, for subsequent irrigation in cells. It is important to control the size of the fragmented material, such as the percentage of fines and the p80 of the blasted material. In the blasting process, Heavy Anfo 46 is used as explosive, which generates operating results where the p80 is 5.2 inches, exceeding the 4 inches indicated by the plant area, while the percentage of fines on average is 32.2% when it is recommended to be less than 20% so as not to affect the descent of the cyanide solution between the pad levels. In addition, in environmental issues, with Heavy Anfo 46 orange fumes are generated during the blasting process, the explosive is not fully used to fragment the rock mass, incurring high costs and environmental consequences due to nitrous gas emissions. For this reason the following project focuses on the replacement of Heavy Anfo 46 and instead implement the gasifiable emulsion SANG APU 100% GAS, which would allow to expand the mesh, reduce the power factor, take advantage of a higher VOD, lower cost of the emulsion compared to Heavy Anfo 46, in addition to being gasifiable can work with different final densities depending on the type of rock consuming less explosive charge per drill hole, in order to reduce the percentage of fines generated and control the P80. In this way, the adequate granulometry is obtained, in environmental issues the presence of nitrous gases is mitigated and vibrations are controlled, besides, in economic issues the change of explosive mixture represents a saving in $/t.
