The energy needs of today's society require a more efficient and reliable electricity network, that is, to offer continuity and good quality of service as long as possible. This is completely achievable thanks to the technological advances of remote control that can discern the events of a system and carry out automatic actions conducive to keep the system functioning properly, in this way the quality of electricity supply can be improved. This present work analyzes the technical criteria to automate a medium voltage electrical distribution system. From this analysis and as a product of the investigation, we propose the following development. Chapter I is called “Introducción“, which deals with the description of the problem, justification of the topic to be developed, objectives, hypotheses of the topic to be developed. Chapter II called “Marco Teórico“, which addresses the conceptual foundations that develop the theme of our research, which will allow the reader to have a clearer view of the concepts that will be developed and explained in Chapter V. Chapter III called “Marco Conceptual“. Chapter IV called “ Hipótesis y operacionalización de variables “. Chapter V called “Metodología de la Investigación”. Chapter VI is called “Desarrollo del trabajo de investigación”, where the methodology applied for the optimal placement of protection equipment and control is presented, the parameters to be considered for the coordination of the equipment (protection and control) for its correct operation in the presence of a mains failure. Likewise, the protocols and communication technology to be used to establish communication between the field teams with a control center will be shown. Chapter VII is called “ Análisis y discusión de Resultados the technical evaluation is developed. Finally, Chapter VIII is called “Conclusiones y recomendaciones“, which describes the conclusions and recommendations of this work.
