Calculating the wear of a belt installed in a concentrator plant and that is running is simple with the help of NDT technology (non-destructive testing), it is only a matter of measuring the thickness of the load cover with ultrasound equipment on more than two occasions and the useful life of the belt can be projected. The problem arises when a belt that has not yet been installed, that is, the belt does not run yet, it is necessary to know how long the belt could last to estimate the inventory stock levels. The studies related to the belts are, for the most part, analyzes referring to the design criteria of the belt and its subsystems, but there are no studies referring to the wear of the belt. If we look for the theories of wear and tear, the approaches are complex due to the generality with which wear is addressed and the constants that depend a lot on non-continuous variables. In the Cerro Verde mining company, this need arose during the construction of the CV2 plant, it was required to know how long the strips of this new plant could last. To estimate the useful life of these strips, a statistical model was developed based on multiple linear regression with data from strips of the CV1 plant that served to determine the wear of the new CV2 plant. The studied algorithm could only be applied to the conveyor belts and not to the feeder feeders due to the discontinuity in its independent variables. Finally, the inventory stock level of belts was calculated using the algorithm developed for belts, which represents 93% of investment and for the Feeders, 50% of the belt of the total meters installed was considered.
