In this research, mortar with a plasticizer additive is presented as an option for its use in the repair and conservation of civil works. The repairs to which reference is made are of a non-structural nature. For this, a mortar with a plasticizing additive is compared with respect to a standard mortar (mortar without additive) and with the classic mortar used in this function, which is the mortar with an expansive additive. The main properties to compare are shrinkage and adherence, which qualify repair and conservation mortars. It is evident that the qualities that the mortar develops with a plasticizer additive –of a water-reducing nature—, rise and are reflected in workability, resistance to compression and traction, shrinkage and adhesion, getting to the point of surpassing in many of them, by far, the mortars with expansive additive. With which, its use for the repair and conservation of civil works is conclusive; and even, the increase in mechanical resistance could be used to repair structures subjected to loads, which is not observed in mortars with an expansive additive. For the adhesion test, the recommendations of the ASTM C1583 standard will be applied. Also, because a comparison is made with the repair mortar with an expansive additive from the research of Alanya J. (2017), who relies on the ISO 13007 ceramic slabs – Grouts standard; which basically remains the same procedure as the ASTM standard. Only some recommendations and modifications will be taken into account, so that the test developed has the same comparison conditions. Finally, the use of the mortar with Sika Cem Plasticizer additive (Sika brand plasticizer additive, used in the investigation) with 0,8% of the weight of cement is suggested as the best option among all those analyzed to repair cracks, grooving, cracks, etc. Noting that this suggestion is provided by the favorable characteristics that it presents in the adhesion tension, as well as the expansion that it develops.
