The present work has the purpose of presenting the criteria for the design of an automatic under frequency load shedding scheme for isolated industrial electrical systems. The National Interconnected System (SEIN) has an under frequency load shedding scheme, which is determined through an annual study carried out by the Economic Operation Committee of the National Interconnected System (COES-SINAC). However, the scheme designed by COES-SINAC cannot be applied to isolated industrial electrical systems, since these installations are not part of the SEIN. This work proposes a methodology for the design of this scheme in this type of installation. The methodology is based on a trial and error procedure, through which the characteristics of the scheme will be determined using dynamic simulation software for electrical systems. The methodology was applied for the design of the scheme of an industry of the oil sector.
