The development of the Camisea Natural Gas Project has helped the country's economic growth while making available to homes, businesses and industries an economical fuel with less impact on the environment. However, in the rest of the world, natural gas does not contain ethane, and it is separated for use in industries such as petrochemicals, generating greater added value with this input and only burning methane gas, which is less polluting. This research evaluates the technical, economic and legal feasibility of installing an ethane separating plant and its interconnection with the gas pipeline that transports natural gas from the Camisea gas fields. Thus, for the purposes of the investigation, the appropriate location of the ethane separation plant was determined, resulting that the plant should be located at Kp. 519+380 (next to the derivation of the Contugas Concessionaire) located in the Humay District, Pisco, Ica. Likewise, the optimal design of the ethane separation plant is determined, obtaining an ethane yield of 98.8% with a concentration of 98%, by simulating the process with the Aspen HYSYS® software and using the tools incorporated in the simulator for this. case. These results allow to determine the economic analysis of the ethane separation plant for a useful life of 20 years considering 4 years of construction and start-up, obtaining annual income generated greater than its operating costs, managing to recover what was invested as CAPEX in a period of 5 years from the beginning of the operation of the plant; in addition, the NPV of the project was 2,932.6 MMUS$ and the IRR of 36.6%. Finally, the current regulatory framework is evaluated, recommending the addition of some clauses to make the installation of an ethane separation plant legally viable.
