This research work presents a technical comparison of the effect that the change and incorporation of this new Led technology would generate in the lighting for the various areas along the tunnel. The main problem is the high energy consumption of the public lighting system inside the tunnel, luminaires with high pressure sodium vapor lamps (VSAP) are installed. Therefore, the replacement of these luminaires by others with Led technology is proposed. The general objective is to analyze the effects produced by the replacement of current luminaires by Led technology. A simulation will be developed through public lighting software for the selection of the appropriate luminaire with Led technology. The methodology used is contemplated in the CIE:88 (2004) Standard, which considers the criteria and lighting levels contained in the publication Guide for the lighting of tunnels and underpasses for the various tunnel areas. The main result is energy savings, the optimal Led luminaire replacement will be found to obtain savings in energy consumption. The conclusion is that with the replacement of the luminaires with Led technology, a saving of 25% in energy consumption is obtained.
