Precipitation and temperature around the world are expected to be altered by the effects of climate change, this will cause regional alterations in the hydrological cycle. For proper water management it is necessary to anticipate these changes, for effective decision-making and for the design of appropriate strategies for adaptation and mitigation of climate change. In this study, the Higueras River sub-basin (Department of Huánuco) was simulated with the GR2M hydrological model after calibration and validation. Statistical downscaling was performed using Bias Correction for precipitation and temperature data from 22 Global Climate Models (GCMs) of the Intercomparative Coupled Models Project Phase 5 (CIMP 5) under emission scenarios RCR4.5 and RCP8.5. (Representative Concentration Routes), these were used as input to the GR2M model to obtain future discharges. For the evaluation of the variation of future precipitation and temperature (2020-2094) based on the observed historical period (1981- 2005), they were compared with the corrected data of the 22 GCM. Toe effect of climate change on water supply was analyzed using the monthly multiannual average in 03 analysis periods, short term (CP, 2020-2036), medium term (MP, 2037-2053) and long term (LP, 2054-207). In general, an upward increase of the future temperature is obtained in both RCP scenarios, the greatest variation of the monthly average temperature increase is 1.49 °C (RCP4.5) and 4.73 ºC (RCP8.5). Toe total future monthly precipitation achieves a variable behavior between increase (September - April) and decrease (May - August), achieving an increase variation of 25.06% (RCP4.5) and 33.97% (¡RCP8.5) and a decrease of 13.75 % (RCP4.5) and 18.66% (RCP8.5). Toe results declare the effect of climate change on the water availability of the Higueras River subbasin, making the water supply of the river decrease in the dry months and increase· in the wet months, due to the variable behavior of precipitation and the consequent increase of the temperature. Toe water balance (m3/s) between the monthly population supply and demand in the Short Term shows a water surplus throughout all the months and in both the RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 scenarios. In the Medium Term, a water deficit of 0.29 m3/s (August) and 0.16 m3/s (September) is achieved in the RCP4.5 scenario; and in the RCP8.5 scenario a water deficit of 0.31 m3/s (August) and 0.19 m3/s (September). Likewise, in the Long Term, a water deficit of 0.74 m3/s (July), 1.08 m3/s (August) and 0.89 m3/s (September) is obtained in the RCP4.5 scenario; and in the RCP8.5 scenario a deficit of0.71 m3/s (July), 1.10 m3/s (August) and 0.95 m3/s (September).
