The present work is oriented to the study of the advantages and disadvantages of the use of Shear Link Bozzo seismic dissipators in an essential building of reinforced concrete. For this study, an essential health center type building has been selected, which was structurally designed according to the National Building Regulation - 2006 Edition. Then, a new design of the building was made using the Shear Link Bozzo seismic dissipators in order to study how the behavior of the building is modified. In order to analyze the behavior of both types of buildings, nonlinear time-history analyzes were performed using the PERFORM 3D program, for which 11 seismic record pairs were selected that were scaled to different levels of intensities following the guidelines of the FEMA P-58 standard. The evaluation of the performance of the buildings used the norm ASCE - 41-13. The main comparison parameters were the stories drifts, stories accelerations and performance of the main structural elements such as beams, columns and walls. Likewise, with the results obtained from the analysis and through the PACT program, the damages in both structures were quantified in monetary terms. Finally, with the methodology applied and the results obtained from the study, it will allow us to know the effectiveness of the Shear Link Bozzo seismic dissipators in reducing the damages of the structural elements and content of the building, as well as quantifying the seismic performance in monetary terms for a better decision making in future projects.
