Today, concrete is a commonly used and conventional material, which is obtained by mixing three main components: cement, water and aggregates. These components are mixed in different proportions in order to acquire certain properties, the most important of which is compressive strength. At present there are certain products called additives, which when added to concrete allow increasing the compressive strength while maintaining the standard design. In the present research work, MasterEase 3900 admixture was used, which is a water-reducing superplasticizing admixture, the purpose of which is to verify the veracity of the properties indicated in the technical specifications provided by the manufacturer, as well as Portland cement type I, fine aggregates from the Trapiche quarry and coarse aggregate from the Unicon quarry. For the production of the concrete, first the fine and coarse aggregates were tested separately, and then as a whole (global aggregate), to find the optimum proportion of these aggregates. Then the concrete was tested in its fresh and hardened state. For the standard concrete, the water/cement ratios 0.50, 0.60, 0.70 and 0.80 were used; and then for each water/cement ratio of the standard concrete, the admixture dosages of 0.72%, 1.00% and 1.18% of the weight of cement were used. The tests performed on the fresh concrete are consistency, unit weight, air content, setting time, and on the hardened concrete are compressive strength, diametral compressive strength, elastic modulus and flexural strength. All these tests were carried out at the Materials Testing Laboratory of the National Engineering University. Finally, the results of the tests performed are compared, for which the standard concrete is taken as a basis for comparison and the optimum behavior of the concrete with the lowest cost is determined.
