This report addresses part of the certification audit of the quality management system, based on the international standard ISO 9001:2015, of the company Minera Poderosa, which was carried out by the certifying company SGS Del Perú. The mining company is dedicated to the exploration, exploitation, processing and commercialization of minerals with gold content, and fulfilling the role assumed by me, as auditor of the certifying company, a finding was identified in the grinding sub-process, which and according to the “Process Map“ of the mining company, belongs to the main process called “Processing“, and indicated in Figure 8. The finding was related to the consumption of cyanide in the milling line, which reached an efficiency of 88.74% by 2020, a percentage that was calculated by the audited company, based on the level of compliance with the indicator “Specific consumption of cyanide“ and its corresponding goal and indicated in Figure 11. In addition, according to the percentage of efficacy ranges are established, where for a percentage less than 90%, the result is classified as “Bad“. Whereas milling is a priority factor, since in this sub-process gold from the ore is exposed to the cyanide solution; it became necessary to evaluate the impact that this has, both on the quality of the product offered, which in this case is the gold bullon, and other factors that could affect efficiency and costs in production. Therefore, by applying a process assessment from a chemical engineering point of view and using audit methods, indicated in the international standard ISO 19011:2018, they constituted a relevant factor for the performance of the audit. Likewise, it was demonstrated how the chemical engineer, within his mission to optimize processes, maintains a strategic role in the certification audits of quality management systems, this due to the contribution in the analysis and evaluation of the results of the monitoring and control of the production process, as well as the interpretation of the data and information obtained from the production system, which contributed to knowing the real situation of the process; in addition, it strengthens different competencies, such as the ability to apply knowledge, teamwork, the ability to solve problems, among others. As part of the audit, technical contributions were identified that are proposals for improvement, which the mining company, after technical and economic evaluation, can implement according to the value they give; all of this is detailed in chapter 3 of the present report. In chapter 4, the contributions were indicated, both for the audited company and for the certifying company, according to the results and technical contributions identified, and finally the conclusions of the audit were given, qualifying the finding found as an opportunity for improvement, according to the audit methodology used and other reasons detailed in chapter 4.
