A very important part of drilling engineering is the review of neighboring wells that are close to well drilling projects with the objective of identifying not only good drilling practices, but problems and / or unwanted events that cause in many cases it takes a long time to complete the drilling of a well or even to lose a well. The impact can be high especially in the project economy which is our job to identify these unwanted events can be reduced or even eliminated using good drilling practices or even changes of lining designs if required. Through a compilation of repetitive unwanted events in a set of “S“ type wells in the 8 ½“ vertical section of block 1AB (Now 192) it was possible to jointly analyze that all the events presented had one point in common, the exposure of the clay zone (Capas Rojas Inferior Formation) which influenced the manifestation of these events. A change in 9 5/8“ casing depth (depth of approximately 500 m deeper) was necessary to reduce and even eliminate these unwanted events entirely. These long-term unwanted events will generate large operating costs since they will involve loss of money and time in the work that will be carried out to solve the events that will be generated over time, which is why it is more profitable to do a reengineering from a well.
