The XYZ mining unit produces silver, lead and zinc concentrates. Mechanized and conventional mining is used to extract the mineral from the subsoil. The largest volume of ore comes from vein and body deposits. The type of deposit and the mining method are two aspects treated in this thesis. The main objective of this thesis was to apply the mechanized exploitation method Sublevel Stoping, to influence the increase in the profitability of the mining of narrow veins. This objective was raised because the narrow veins were being left to exploit due to their high cost, low productivity and slow mining. To analyze the situation, meetings were held with the Operations Management, Planning Management, Mine Management, Geology Management and the Drilling and Blasting Management. With the meetings held, the reason that caused the problem of low profitability of narrow vein mining were determined. With the subsequent analysis of the data obtained, it was determined that the root causes were the conventional exploitation method and the excessively narrow vein. To address these root causes, countermeasures or alternative solutions were proposed that would allow the company to exploit the vein with greater profitability. These measures were to apply the sublevel stoping method of exploitation and mine the vein together with the adjacent disseminated one. With the changes made, it was possible to improve the Operating Margin from 14.75 US $ / MT to 15.5 US $ / MT. Profitability indicators increased from US $ 130,163 to US $ 280,206 for the NPV, from 7% to 27% for the IRR and from 1.43 to 1.53 for the B / C.
