“A Sustainable Development Model for the Promotion of Investments in the Peruvian Mining Sector“ is based on three lessons learned i) A legal stability and administrative simplification for the investment attraction carried out since 1991 through COPRI (Today PROINVERSIÓN) and the MINEM, generating a period of growth known as the “Mining Boom“, where for example, gold production increased from 20.2 to 208 tons (10 times) from 1990 to 2005; ii) Antamina; as a private initiative of social and environmental responsibility; managing to build this mega mining project in just 5 years, starting its mining operations in 2001; iii) Las Bambas; as a state initiative to create a short-term social fund and long-term funds to promote sustainable development, reversing anti-mining conflicts and managing to build this mega mining project and start operations in 2016. The model integrates these good practices implemented with simplification of permits and management of social conflicts, so that through a joint effort between the Government, Private Investment and the Community, with the common good as a goal, they can promote the investment portfolio of more than US $ 56 billion in the mining sector, generating employment and well-being for all Peruvians, with sustainable development, economic and social recovery, which will be required after the debacle of the pandemic Covid-19 that “has already been generating an unprecedented global economic crisis“.
