In this thesis, the thermal conductivity of nano-layers and micro-layers of niobium pentoxide Nb2Os has been experimentally studied in order to determine their possible application as thermal barriers. The deposition of niobium oxide has been given using the Sputtering technique, which was done using niobium as a target and gases such as: argon and oxygen for the formation of niobium pentoxide. In this work we have used X-ray tests to confirm the type of material that has formed in the deposition, in this case the niobium pentoxide Nb2Os. Two types of tests have been carried out to experimentally determine the thermal conductivity; The first test was carried out using a thermal resistance and copper discs in which thermocouples have been placed to be able to see the variations in temperatures and to be able to determine the coefficient of thermal conductivity in a microlayer of niobium pentoxide Nb2Os which is on a sheet of aluminum; The second method to determine the thermal conductivity in nanolayers of niobium pentoxide Nb2Os has been used the Time Domain Thermal Reflectance (TDTR) method with the Ultrafast Laser Flash technique for which glass substrates have been coated, for which we have been able to determine more exactly the thermal conductivity of niobium pentoxide Nb2Os is around 1 W m-1 K-1• Finally, the thermal behavior of layers of niobium pentoxide was simulated in their function as thermal barriers on various pieces of aluminum that work at temperatures of the order of 500 K. Additionally, samples were made using multilayers of niobium pentoxide Nb2O5 and silicon dioxide SiO2 and Thermal conductivity analysis was performed with the Ultrafast Flash Laser technique.
