The study area is located in the Pativilca river basin, specifically in the Rapay river sub-basin in the Cajatambo province, Lima region. Two geomorphological units have been identified, called the middle basin zone, which has slopes in the shape of a “V” and steep walls towards the bottom of the valley and the upper basin zone that comprises the surface of the plateau and the glaciated area. The lithology of the area corresponds mostly to the Santa Formation, made up of layers of dark dolomitic limestones with some intercalations of shales, and the Carhuaz / Farrat Formation made up of sandstone and quartzite banks with intercalations of continental shales. As volcanic rocks, the Calipuy Group is made up of andesitic lavas and tuffs; A granodioritic stock is also observed that intrudes the sedimentary rocks in the central part of the study area. The objective of this sufficiency work is to improve the location of the underground works of the Rapay 1 hydropower project, which is close to a contact zone between the intrusive rocks of the Shanuc stock and sedimentary rocks of the Santa and Carhuaz / Farrat Formations, which they would present a contact metamorphism associated with a zone of weakness.
