The successful development of a mining project must consider several critical points at each stage, one of them is efficient sampling. Sampling and sample preparation errors are responsible for losses in the order of millions of dollars annually, so correct sampling is essential for good mine control, planning, operational management, and mineral processing. This study considered the Jessica deposit as the unit of analysis, belonging to Cia. Minera Aruntani SAC, located in the Ocuviri district, Lampa province, Puno department. The study area is located on three geomorphological units that correspond to Altiplano andino, the intermountain trench of tectonic origin that occupies Lago Titicaca and the strip of peaks that border the plateau. The mine area is located within the Sillapaca and Palca Group, which consists of andesitic to dacitic volcanic rocks. One of the main problems is the high sampling error, so far, sampling activities have been developed empirically, the site does not have quality control protocols, which has generated high error rates and, therefore, poor laboratory analysis. In field activities, the geologist is in charge of the continuous monitoring of the materials where the mining process is carried out, and within his obligations, is the correct characterization of the materials with the minimum percentage of error, which requires permanent supervision. This function, called “Ore control” begins in the sampling and ends in the plant and involves the control of all the intermediate steps related to the collection in the mine, transportation, final disposal and feeding of the plant. Without a quality control protocol, proper handling of the laws and efficient geological characterization, they become subjective and give rise to high error rates. In order to mitigate this problem, it is proposed to design a proposal to implement quality assurance and control protocols that allow the reduction of errors and the increase in the reliability of the analysis. For this purpose, information is collected from the sampling process in the stages of the mining project and the current practices used are identified. Subsequently, the main parameters that cause a high error rate in the process are identified and a procedure designed based on QA/QC protocols is implemented that must be applied in the sampling process, which considerably reduces the error rate and with it the economic losses of the company.
