I know that one method to be able to concentrate the mineral is through foam flotation, this is one of the oldest methods; but, of a great technological discovery, in what are concentrator plants, with the physicochemical principle of surfaces, which consists in the hydrophobicity of the valuable with respect to the hydrophilicity of the non-valuable. The objective of this thesis is to minimize the costs of the zinc flotation circuit by replacing xanthate with lime by a selective reagent Diaflot C-115; For which it was necessary to sample, do the physical preparation, and then submit to flotation tests with 4 selective collectors of the companies: CYTEC, DIAFLOT, CLARIANT and FLOTTEC which were selected for different properties such as greater selectivity and low cost in addition to the antecedents that had already been had in other plants. The grinding test was carried out, from which it is possible to see that when doing the regression and looking for a percentage of 56% mesh -200, it gives us as a result 3,317 minutes to be able to grind. When performing the flotation tests in the metallurgical laboratory and when viewing the results of the 4 selective reagents, a greater metallurgical factor is seen with respect to zinc in two selective reagents such as Hostaflot X-231 and Diaflot C-115; But, to be able to decide not only the metallurgical factor must be seen but also the one with the lowest cost; and as can be seen of the two selective reagents, the one that has the lowest cost is Diaflot C-115; with which this has been chosen; to do the analysis at the Victoria plant.
