The formations that a well passes through when it is drilled present a certain degree of stability according to their conformation. That is why the formulation of the drilling fluid plays a crucial role when planning and executing the project. There are shale formations that, depending on their geomechanics, will have very different behaviors even if it is the same field. In this case, the chemistry and rheology of the mud are critical factors that directly affect the well performance and its operability as well as providing stability in the well walls. All drilling of a well implies that the mud is customized for the specific needs of the well. It is possible to have the correlations of the sedimentary formations between wells, core samples that have been obtained, and the history of what type of mud was used since the exploratory phase and the entire learning curve that this entails. However, if the parameters are not calibrated properly and on time, there is a risk that the chemical properties of the fluid will directly attack the most sensitive formations, causing adverse reactions for the operation such as collapses or swelling of the shales, among others that consequently It could become a Sidetrack when the pipe gets stuck. To the north of Peru, in the department of Tumbes, there is the block Z1, which is characterized by having oil fields whose shale formations present high reactivity and varies according to the field to which it is entered. For the purposes of this study, we will focus on the Corvina field, which was drilled from the CX15 buoyant platform during the second development well drilling campaign. We will use as a sample five wells of which two are under certain mud characteristics and the other two under totally different characteristics and consequently we will be able to compare their performance.
