A group of electricity distribution and commercialization companies had electrical substations under their management with outdated technology, which is why it was not possible to acquire all the monitoring and control data in the SCADA system. Some electrical substations were not even automated. For this reason, the electricity networks could not be operated and managed efficiently. The modernization of the operation and management of the electricity networks has been achieved through the implementation of automation systems in non-automated substations and with the modernization of substations that already had automated systems. The automation was carried out through the supply of substation concentrators (CDS or RTU), transport, assembly, installation, testing and commissioning. The methodology is applied to a single High Availability type electrical substation, that is, with redundancy capacity. With the electrical substation automation project, control and monitoring data acquisition was improved, being a fundamental factor in the operation of the new implemented SCADA system (the design of the SCADA system was part of another project). The number of automated substations in the companies was also increased, thus contributing to improving customer service and the results of the electricity distribution and marketing group.
