The general objective of this research work was to analyze the hazards in the solid waste treatment plant at Jorge Chavez International Airport (AIJC) using HAZOP methodology. The hypothesis was: the measures that are correctly applied and that were the result of the analysis under HAZOP methodology will reduce the risk associated with the hazards in the AIJC's solid waste treatment plant. Now, the amount of nodes obtained for the treatment of solid waste of the AIJC was 23 nodes, being the system of water supply, softening and bleach solution the biggest with a total of nine; the amount of parameters identified in the treatment of solid waste of the AIJC was 28, being the system of boiler and steam distribution the one that obtained the biggest amount of parameters identified with 10; In the AIJC's solid waste treatment, the hazards that have an intolerable risk level are six, those that have an undesirable risk level are eight, those that have an acceptable risk level with control are 10 and those that have a reasonably acceptable risk level are 4; it is estimated that the recommendations based on the methodology will manage to reduce the intolerable risks to zero, the undesirable risks to three. It is concluded that these differences between the risks before and after the recommendations are statistically significant, because a value of significance equal to 0.000 was obtained.
