Nowadays, there are various products derived from natural gas that have high commercial value such as LPG and natural gasoline. For its production, it is necessary to recover the natural gas liquids by low temperature physical processes such as absorption refrigeration. However, under these operating conditions, the free water present in natural gas promotes the formation of hydrates in the pipelines. Hydrates are solids with a snow-like appearance and represent a serious problem for natural gas systems because they obstruct its flow, affecting the process. The negative effects of hydrate formation in industry go from emergency shutdowns to deterioration of pipes and equipment. To prevent this result, one of the most used methods is the injection of chemical inhibitors, whose function is to reduce the hydrate formation temperature at certain operating conditions. Based on the information on the composition of natural gas and the operating conditions of the refrigeration system of the Pariñas Natural Gas Processing Plant, it seeks is to determine the operating variables that influence the chemical inhibition of hydrates. Likewise, the results of the study help to find a relationship between the concentration of monoethylene glycol and its regeneration temperature for this type of process.
