Peru has a strategic location in South America, but if there doesn’t have an adequate and a modern ports infrastructure to receive larger ships, it will remain behind in the region; and although it has a large investment gap in port infrastructure, there is a growing trend in the movement of loads from 2010 to date. These large ships require equally large structures, so that these ships can approach the shore for boarding or disembarking products properly. One of the most important conditions is that the port has a dock with the appropriate location, dimensions and structural type appropriate and whose execution is feasible with high standards of quality and safety, but with costs as in reasonable time. The construction process of a pier is complex, since this structure generally consists of a board supported on piles embedded in the seabed. If the docks are large, their constitutive elements are also large, so unconventional construction procedures are required to achieve physical goals with reasonable costs and deadlines. The construction of Muelle Sur of the Port Terminal of Callao, is a clear example of efficiency and productivity of a port work, where Cantitravel pile sinking system –which is a foreign technology– has been used for the execution of the pier, which it consists of a metal platform that advances on the sheet of water regardless of atmospheric and maritime conditions. This Thesis will demonstrate qualitatively and quantitatively that the benefits of this Cantitravel pile sinking system is better than the traditional construction procedure used since the 70s of the last century for the execution of bigger piers; likewise, the guidelines for the implementation of the Cantitravel system design will be developed in order to be applied by national companies through an external technology transfer modality system to Peru.
