The present professional sufficiency dissertation whose theme is “DRAINAGE IN ROADS OF THE CENTRAL SIERRA OF PERU SECTION HUANUCO - LA UNION - HUALLANCA, SECTOR: HUANUCO - PUNTO UNION“, has the purpose of providing the necessary criteria to perform the hydrological and hydraulic analysis of crossings in streams in the section under study, considering the flows by floods that fall in the basins of these streams. Certain considerations must be taken into account in order to estimate the maximum design flow rate, which will ultimately determine the most appropriate drainage structure. As input data, it is necessary to take into account the cartographic and topographic data, which first allowed us to determine the physiographic parameters of the basins, and then to prepare the corresponding maps of these basins. Then, historical pluviometric information from the corresponding stations located in the study area, provided by the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology (SENAMHI), was compiled in order to begin the hydrological analysis. Likewise, taking into consideration the characteristics of the soil and vegetation cover of the basins, the most appropriate coefficients or parameters will be estimated and then applied to the most appropriate methodology for estimating the maximum design flows of the basins under study. For the present dissertation, the maximum design flows have been estimated by 3 different methodologies, the first by the Unitary Hydrograph method, the second was determined under the SCS methodology, considering a design storm for a Type II distribution and finally by calculating the design hydrogram from the IDF curves, using the Alternate Block Method, by means of the HEC-HMS software (developed by the Hydrologic Engineering Center of the US Army Corps of Engineers). Finally, a comparative analysis of the results of the methods used to estimate the design flow of the drainage works to be projected was carried out. For the hydraulic analysis, use was made of the HECRAS software (developed by the Hydrologic Engineering Center of the US Army Corps of Engineers). This program made it possible to size the drainage structure (bridge) and determine the water levels, verifying its hydraulic capacity and gage so that it could operate efficiently. Likewise, the scour depth was determined, highlighting that this scour depth level will be for the protection of the abutments and erosion control, but not for the definition of the abutment foundation elevation, whose elevations will be defined by the geotechnical study. At the final of the report we develop the conclusions and recommendations that allow us to indicate the most important points of our professional sufficiency dissertation, and finally conclude with the annexes that have served as support in the development of this professional sufficiency dissertation.
