The development of this thesis is oriented to the design and implementation of an assistance system to improve mobility in people with visual disabilities in external environments using convolutional neural networks. For this, it is sought that the system can have a balance between the precision and speed of object detection, so that, in turn, it can be sent by voice messages through the hearing aids to the user. In addition, an embedded system was implemented to detect the distance to objects that are at the level of the user's head, and alert them when they are less than one meter away. In the experiments, a high effectiveness of the system was achieved against real problems in external environments. For future work, the system could be improved, exchanging the processing unit for a more powerful one; this would increase the precision and speed of the convolutional neural network.
