The transport nodes are part of a network that allows to provide high-speed internet service, a transport node is a transmission point located in a strategic place to cover a specific area, the main purpose of a transport node is to send and receive information from a point to another in a unidirectional or bidirectional way, these nodes contain critical equipment and electricity is very important for their operation, a power cut of just a fraction of a second is enough to cause a failure in the equipment and interrupt the service. For satisfy the demanding requirements of service availability, a reliable power supply must be guaranteed. In this context, the current research work develops a design of the electrical energy backup system for broadband internet transport nodes, considering a rectifier system and batteries as an uninterrupted power supply source that guarantees the continuity of the service, in addition a secondary backup system with a generator set and an automatic transfer system, which allows the switching of the electrical load to the emergency system. This design is based on the National Electricity Code (CNE) and the Peruvian Technical Standards (NTP), as well as international norms and standards such as the National Electric Code (NEC), National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA).
