The present work has as its scope the analysis of the main factors that were had for the optimization of production times in the manufacture of metal structures. Metal mechanical plants use different quality management systems in their different production processes. Of which most do not consider the appropriate criteria resulting in low efficiency, and define a design without performing the corresponding tests. This research was developed in a metal mechanic plant, which during the manufacture of metal structures used different profiles, pipes and ASTM A36 steel plates and a quality management system was designed. The historical records of production times were not different, which showed that they originated higher expenses for the company. To optimize production times, a quality management system was designed. With the new design and applying the standards and production criteria, the correct distribution of the processes was achieved, making the best use of the production area and determining the plant capacity.
