The present work of professional sufficiency develops the study of a defect management method to improve the start of operation of a car body factory. This proposal was developed through the procedures of the PDCA methodology (Continuous Improvement Cycle - Deming's Circle). This research is carried out in the facilities of the Volkswagen Navarra - Spain car factory, in the car body manufacturing area, where the information for this research is obtained, the car body construction process is known, the amount of defects in production batches and rework times in the car bodies are obtained. The design of the management method was carried out through the steps of the Continuous Improvement Cycle (Plan-Do-Check-Act) and control tools: Control Sheets, Pareto Diagram, Cause-Effect Diagram, Verification Sheets and Root Cause Analysis (5 Whys) and Visual Management tools, which results in a structure of a management method for the reduction of defects and rework times at the beginning of production of a car body factory. From the results it is concluded that the proposed defect management method is valid for the optimization of the start-up times of a car body factory.
