This Work of Sufficiency aims to determine the influence of using new materials in a photovoltaic solar pumping system on the system’s reliability in a country town. For this case study, the system of the Amantaní island, located on Lake Titicaca, in the department of Puno, is analysed. In the first place, the problematic situation is described, due to the continuous failures in the pumping stations that generate a low reliability of the, causing the lack of water supply in the communities that these stations and their reservoirs feed. To influence reliability, it is proposed to analyse the failures from the point of view of the materials used for the main equipment and the pipes and accessories. For this purpose, technical information from the office and field corresponding to the installation, operation and maintenance of the pumping system was collected: topographic survey, descriptive and calculation memory, technical data, inspection and maintenance records and historical record of failures. The data obtained were systematized through Excel and AutoCAD software to calculate the reliability of the whole system and of each of the pumping stations independently, based on the same operating parameters that were used for the design of the system. Then, a detailed failure analysis was developed, emphasizing those due to incorrect selection of materials and components. Finally, a new reliability calculation was developed, comparing it with what was obtained at the beginning of this study and determining the impact of the suggested changes.
