This thesis is a proposal that look for implementing 6.1 meters drills in the mechanized drilling process of horizontal advances that will help improve the meters of advances in underground mining companies and thereby reduce the operation costs of the meters program month by month. It has a quantitative approach and experimental design. The development of the research creates a comparison scenario between a jumbo with an arm to 4.3 meters drill and the jumbo adapted to 6.1 meters drill, in order to evaluate the operation of equipment to increase the advance per blasting and its feasibility; in addition to identifying options for improvement in the process. As a result, it was found that the implementation of 6.1 meters drills was able to increase the advances above 5 meters; but it demands times higher than the average using a 4.3 meter jumbo, this due to the mechanism of the equipment to place the holes. Therefore, it does not generate benefits in technical economic aspects to the mine.
