The objective of this thesis is to know the effects on high-strength reinforced concrete using type II portland cement due to the effect of Ferric Chloride, because many reinforced concrete structures (storage tanks) are exposed to this chemical, used in the water purification process. To know the effects that could be generated, concrete specimens of 4“x 8“ dimensions were made, with inside a corrugated steel rod (3/8 “) 10 cm long and located in the axis of the specimen. also complying with the following relationships of a / c = 0.45, 0.50, 0.55. Subsequently, the specimens and the steel were subjected to the accelerated corrosion method detailed in the research thesis entitled “Corrosion of cement due to sulfate attack“ by Ing. José Luis Díaz Lazo. After the aforementioned method, the effects were determined, with the priority being the weight modifications in the specimens used in the test, other effects were also recorded, such as mechanical and physical properties in reference to the specimens used prior to the test. However, through this study, it can be considered as an orientation to deepen the knowledge of researchers, also for builders when exposing reinforced concrete to ferric chloride and taking into account the effects generated.
