Nowadays pump stations use measurement instruments to monitor process variables in real time. To guarantee the reliability and precision of these measuring instruments, preventive maintenance plans are usually drawn up on an annual basis that includes contrast and calibration activities; without evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of this plan. A management system is required to evaluate the current plan and define evaluation criteria and improvements to optimize maintenance plans. A recommended maintenance frequency is proposed based on a qualitative classification of the instruments made based on criticality and maintenance interval calculated based on the results of the previously carried out inspections. Toe recommended management system allows to maintain the desired reliability and precision; at the same time, it will reduce the hours of unavailability of the equipment, the manhours in risk activities and the costs associated with the maintenance of the measurement instruments.
