This study is carried out with the purpose of contributing to reduce the impact of dust or particulate material, that is generated as a result of operations in ore concentrating plants, on the environment, humans, animals and on materials. Analysis of the operation of dust collection systems, the procedure through which the particulate material is collected, specifically in two types of systems, the wet system, system that uses a liquid as a means to capture dust particles, and the compact filter system, system that uses filters to capture particulate matter. It proposes to combine the process of these two systems, capture dust particles initially by means of a humid system and later by means of compact filters. A study is carried out on the characteristics of the particulate matter, found in the air, specifically about the forces to which they are subjected, like gravitational force, the thrust force when immersed in a fluid medium, the drag force due to the movement of the air. The interaction of these forces determines the movement of the particulate matter. The use of water sprayed is considered, to motivate core formation, sizes that make it easier to settle the particulate matter, water sprayed has just like dust a distribution of droplet size, and to the extent that the droplet size is adequate, you get results appropriate for the purpose of the study. The result reflects the good results obtained from wet collectors, for coarse-sized particles and the efficiency of dry collectors, for fine particles. The influence that is obtained is demonstrated in the decrease in the cost of operation and maintenance, the amount of dust caught is decreased and therefore longer life of compact filters. In short, greater efficiency of the dust collector system is obtained. In relation to the required investment cost, an estimate is made based on reference costs of equipment and accessories, the cost benefit that comes from implementation is favorable.
