In this research of professional sufficiency proposes an improvement in the quality and management of energy in both urban and rural areas of the electricity concession companies based on an evaluation of distribution system automation technologies to solve the problems identified as high indicators of duration and frequency of interruptions, high costs of reading meters, costs of cutting and reconnecting meters, claims for customer service, high costs for fault detection and service restoration. Five types of technologies are described, from which the one that best suits the geographical conditions and the concession area of the energy distribution companies is selected. The technologies described have supervision, remote management and remote measurement functions, these being necessary to improve energy management, reduce electrical losses, reduce maintenance costs, give an immediate response to a network failure and improve the quality of the electric service. By using the appropriate technology, electricity distribution companies allow you to improve the quality of electricity service (duration and frequency of interruptions) and energy management (reading of energy consumption, energy balance, cut and reconnection of meters). For the development of this work, information is collected from the electricity concession companies. Based on the information, five technology alternatives are proposed and the one that best suits the operating conditions of the electrical distribution networks is chosen in order to improve the quality and management of energy. You must be clear about your needs and the reason why you want to opt for one of these technologies. This research has a mixed approach, on the one hand, quantitative because the hypothesis formulated is corroborated through the appropriate research design; and on the other hand it is qualitative because it uses techniques to collect data, such as unstructured observation, document review, interviews and / or questionnaires. Finally, the costs and benefits of the technology selected in the activities of the commercial area, operation and maintenance of the electricity distribution companies are evaluated. With the selected technology, high indicators of duration and frequency of interruptions are reduced, and costs are reduced such as: reading of meters, cutting and reconnecting of meters, claims for customer service, detection of faults and restoration of service.
