The mining industry is oriented to the extraction of minerals and other elements present on the earth’s surface. Drills, trucks, shovels and auxiliary equipment are deployed for open pit mineral extraction process. The extraction capacity depends on the number of equipment available or ready to operate. The availability of heavy machinery denotes the time rate that the equipment is ready to operate. The low availability negatively impacts mine productivity. Possible causes include the lack of data on the health condition of heavy machinery. Based on the aforementioned, it is necessary to determine the influence that the lack of data on the health condition of heavy mining machinery has on their availability, aimed at proposing alternatives to improve availability. The present work proposes a methodology of data collection in heavy machinery in order to design a data collection architecture, which, through availability comparison in the presence of the indicated architecture, will validate whether the lack of data influences the improvement of the availability of heavy machinery.
