This research work evaluates the installations of an earthing system to influence the improvement of the safety of people exposed to dangerous voltages within the installations of a high voltage substation. The study includes the evaluation of the grounding of the substations and transmission lines that are part of the electrical system, which are connected by a guard cable; Furthermore, it mainly comprises the evaluation of dangerous voltages in the grounding mesh of a high voltage substation. The evaluation of the grounding system installations will be carried out using two software: the first one for commercial use CYMGRD, which is specialized in evaluating grounding meshes in high voltage substations; and the second free-use ATP DRAW, which is specialized in evaluating the distribution of short-circuit currents to ground in electrical power systems. In the research work, the data necessary for the evaluation of the electrical power system and the grounding grid of a high-voltage substation are first collected; then, the models for simulations are made using software; then, the distribution of short-circuit currents to ground is evaluated in the grounding installations of the power electrical system; and finally, the magnitudes of dangerous voltages within the facilities of a high voltage substation are evaluated. The result of the evaluation makes it possible to recommend alternatives to improve the safety of people exposed to dangerous voltages within high-voltage substations. The recommended alternatives provide information to continue with the next stage of investigation, where the impact of the alternatives on the safety of people in Ata Voltage Substations will be designed and evaluated.
