ZnO is one of the most studied semiconductors in the development of new synthesis techniques that provide new physical properties and in the study of possible technological applications that can be carried out according to the final characteristics achieved in each synthesis. Therefore, in the present thesis, the ZnO nanoparticles and nanostructures synthesized by chemical route were studied using Zinc nitrate, Zinc acetate and Zinc chloride as precursor salts, and NaOH, KOH and oxalic acid as reducing agents, establishing the best conditions and operational variables. The final samples were characterized by X-ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy and Photoluminescence. The results showed ZnO nanoparticles and nanostructures of spherical, prismatic morphologies, stars and stripes; with crystallite sizes between 9 nm and 89.1nm. The smallest size was obtained from the synthesis from Zinc chloride, NaOH and ethylene glycol, while the largest crystallite size was obtained using Zinc acetate and KOH. By photoluminescence, it was determined that sample synthesized with the greatest luminescence was that of spherical morphology corresponding to that of Zinc acetate + Oxalic acid, while the one with the lowest luminescence was the nanostructures of rod and pencil morphology obtained from Zinc nitrate + NaOH.
