Currently, our country has an energy matrix based on the use of water resources and natural gas, almost in equal parts. However, Peru has a great diversity of potential energy sources in addition to the specific ones. Among them, we have significant amounts of coal, located mainly in the north, which currently is not widely used for electricity production. This work proposes to use coal as an energy resource with low emissions through gasification technology, the use of oxygen and steam to convert coal into a gas mixture called syngas, which can be used as fuel to feed a combined cycle. This combined cycle has been integrated with the gasification process to use the thermal energy of the syngas, increasing cycle efficiency. The conceptual design of plants with different number of pressure levels of the steam cycle has been carried out, after which a technical-economical evaluation was done. Emissions to the environment were also evaluated. In all cases, efficiencies greater than 40% have been obtained, reaching close to 50% in some cases.
