The development of this thesis focuses on the design and installation of a metal drying kiln for cedar wood with a volume of 18 cubic meters having as a source of heat the use of natural gas and the indirect exchange method for drying the wood. Likewise, the impact of the costs in the wood drying process will be evaluated, since a reduction of the same is expected and thus achieve an increase in profitability in the production process. It is worth mentioning that although it is true that an investment is required for its implementation, its recovery is expected in a short time not exceeding two years. In addition, it seeks to improve production processes with consideration of quality standards, thereby reducing the emission of toxic gases, since natural gas consists solely of methane and; indeed, a reduction of the environmental impact. It seeks to raise awareness about the benefits of cogeneration systems for more companies to apply, as it is the technology that ensures the supply of energy. For the implementation of the Metal Drying Furnace, a Programmable Logic Controller will be used, to have a control of the variables under study and to be able to make a comparison of the desired values with the obtained values; In addition, the analysis is based on the selection of suitable equipment with respect to the burner, fans, dehumidifiers, among others, thus making the company that implements it more competitive in the market.
