The application of technology in the construction industry allows us today to carry out difficult and complex projects, increasingly larger, which brings with it greater challenges and demands in the management processes and for the personnel that occupies the leadership positions in them. That is why the leaders responsible for the execution and realization of these projects today, more than ever, must not only have knowledge, but must have greater competencies, which sorne call Talent. During my experience of 28 years of professional practice, building various types of projects and in different cities of Peru, we have been able to learn from the need to have attitudes and skills that train and support engineers and leaders in order to successfully carry out Construction projects in our country. We propose the hypothesis, that although engineering knowledge is trae it is very important to develop the execution of construction projects, this is not everything, since certain skills are required in the professionals who lead these projects so that they They can be developed successfully and can be completed on time, within budget and with the expected quality. For this, interviews have been conducted with ten leading professionals from the world of construction in Peru, civil engineers with many years of presence in the field, who have given us their feedback and experience, obtained from the many projects they have carried out and concluded in a successful way. A questionnaire has been prepared which has been fílled out by 74 civil engineers with several years of experience, all of them graduated from the National Engineering University who have fílled out and shared their opinions regarding the hypothesis. From the analysis and evaluation of the responses in the interviews, as well as the questionnaire, the conclusions have been obtained. We believe that the thesis is an aid to construction companies to be able to capture the right leaders for these projects and is helpful to young construction professionals as it provides them with a list of differentiated competencies, so that they can invest time and effort in developing these skills that are necessary to stand out as leaders in this type of projects.
