One of the main drawbacks of blasting in the iron mine is caused by the generation of rock fragments larger than 9 inches in diameter in areas where the rock is highly competent, resulting in low productivity and mechanical availability of loading equipment and hauling, which also affects an increase in the cost of production of ore that is removed, in addition to increasing production stops for secondary blasting. The P80 of 9”is acceptable within the parameters of the crushing plant, however it generates constant atoms when a slightly larger material enters this P80 causing high energy consumption. This research report seeks to demonstrate the importance of the application of gasified emulsion in increasing the productivity of primary loading, hauling and crushing equipment, as well as better control of rock massif fragmentation after blasting. The results obtained show a reduction in fragmentation of 25.7%, which implies an increase of 5.5% in terms of cargo productivity, with a 3.4% increase and finally a 7.2% increase. The results obtained with this research, will contribute with useful practical data to check and / or generate new methods related to the use of gasified emulsion in surface blasting operations, so that we can optimize the blasting process in open pit mining.
