An alternative is presented that is the technology in the recovery of water from mining effluents in the disposal of tailings in a benefit plant, specifically referring to a Press Filter for this case. This technology will focus on the recovery of water from mining tailings, generating a lower environmental impact compared to conventional tailings deposition systems. It is necessary to indicate that there is a paradigm regarding filtered tailings, assuming in a very simplistic way that they have high investment and operation costs, in addition to presenting a complex operation and doubtful availability, so they are easily discarded from evaluations. For this case, an evaluation alternative is proposed that compares a system with pulp tailings (Conventional Tailings Deposit), which is what is most used today, versus a system with filtered tailings through the use of a press filter. As the difference in both cases is the amount of water, it is required that in the case of pulp tailings, these are directed to the tailings tank with a density of 1350 gr / liter, while in the case of a filter press, the process starts when the tailings in pulp enter a vertical thickener with a density of 1350 gr / liter and in under flow the thickener comes out with a density of 1650 gr / liter, then go through the filter press, resulting in a tailings with a moisture content of 15%, thus achieving an 80% recovery of water for the metallurgical process, thereby reducing the consumption of fresh water As the difference in both cases is given by the amount of fresh water that would be used, it was found convenient to design two tailings deposits in the same location occupying the same area. A conventional tailings storage facility for pulp tailings storage and another tailings storage facility for filtered tailings storage. According to the dimensions of the available area, topographic conditions and operation requirements, it has been established that the method of construction of the tailings deposit will consist of forming banks with properly compacted filtered tailings and protected against wind and storm erosion by a layer of material of loan, with the construction of a starting dike using loan material, product of the excavation of the foundations of the filtered tailings deposit area before shaking. A sub-drainage system will be installed at the bottom of the vessel, which will lead the possible filtration waters to the monitoring pool. It also includes the preparation of platforms, ramps and waterproofing of the site area of the filtered tailings. In order to protect the Filtered Tailings Deposit from wind and rain erosion, and homogenize the appearance of the final surface with the natural environment and make responsible mining, a coverage of loan material, consisting of sandy gravel with clay, will be placed. A percentage of fines. The loan material coverage will be installed progressively according to the growth or filling of the layers of filtered and compacted tailings. It should be noted that for each 0.30 m layer of filtered tailings, 0.30 m of compacted coverage will also be placed. The coverage will have a width of 3.0 m, in all the slopes of the banks of filtered tailings and in the berms it will have a thickness of 1.0 m, which must be compacted in layers of 0.30 m thick. It is necessary to indicate that the material for the cover will be material product of the excavation of the foundation of the area of the Filtered Tailings Deposit before shaking. In order to give more life to the current tailings deposit Tailings Deposit 1 and use it as a contingency pool, part of the tailings of this deposit prior to the filtering process, will be referred to the Filtered Tailings Deposit. In case the tailings filtering system (centrifugal decanter) will be paralyzed due to technical and / or mechanical failures, then the tailings will be poured as has been done to date to the current tailings deposit Tailings Deposit 1. It is necessary indicate that this is a contingency measure to prevent the concentrator plant from paralyzing. It should be noted that this measure would be to overcome the aforementioned problems.
